UPDATE - GOOD NEWS: THE HOLY SPIRIT IS AT WORK!
The Unity Documents making the Heartland Old Catholic Church a member of the Conference of North American Old Catholic Bishops were signed on September 13 , 2008 during the Liturgy held at Saint John the Beloved Church on Capitol Hill. The Mass of Thanksgiving written by Bishop Charles Braun, bishop ordinary for the Old Catholic Diocese of Washington DC, was attended by bishops, clergy, and lay delegates from California, New England, Pennsylvania, Washington DC, Maryland, Georgia, and Minnesota. Bishop Braun was the celebrant. An inspiring sermon was given by Bishop Robert Fuentes, bishop ordinary for the Old Catholic Diocese of Napa and moderator for CNAOCB. And the music was wonderful.
We will be featuring more information in the near future and hopefully some additional pictures from the conference held in Washington DC, September 12 - September 14, 2008. The requirements of old catholic ecclesiology will be implemented over time. Eventually Heartland and other jurisdictions will disappear and be replaced by one Old Catholic Church with a certain number of dioceses each headed by a bishop.
